Mid-Afternoon Shower

Ew, ew, ew. I'm sure that i've talked about creepy pizza man before, but he has lowered himself to new depths today. I am so grossed out that i just want to go home and shower. And punch him in the head. Here is an msn conversation exerpt to get y'all up to speed:

i've gone there a few times and he always says things like, "wow, you look really great... somethings different, you've changed" Thanks for the compliment, a-hole, too bad you followed it up with saying i looked ugly before!
and then, today he was telling me how beautiful i am and asking if i have a boyfriend and saying that he would love to go do something with me sometime (i didn't have time to ask if his WIFE AND SON who i see there sometimes would be joining us)
he said something about me looking perfect since the first time he saw me (which, in itself is creepy b/c he was watching me before i ever went there, when i walk past there with my clients), but... if i got skinnier, i would be even better.

Dear Creepy Pizza Man,
First of all i don't care what you think!!!! You are a funny-looking nobody and a snowball in hell has a better chance of going out with me than you ever will! Just because i am not rude to you does NOT mean that i like you. I know that i am beautiful; i don't need you to tell me that. And i don't give a san-fairy-ann if you think i should shed a few pounds. It's called voluptuous, you a-hole. You are creepy and disgusting and i hope i never see you again.
No-love from,
Janie :)

No Need

I would hate to see my dear Nikol reduced to begging, so alas, i must blog about the cute boy. *sigh* :)

imetacuteboyandhelikestohangoutwithmeandheissofunnyandgreat!!! *sigh*

Well, there's not much to say...yet! We met a couple of weeks ago at church and went out for coffee with my sister (and this older couple who we'd never met before, but they randomly asked if they could sit with us--odd, but whatevs). And then the next week (last week) he came to wonderland with us to hang out with a few of my friends he'd never met and he even played mini golf with me and jakey! And THEN he invited me over to eat popcorn, drink iced tea (which i don't particularly like, but now i'm acquiring a taste for ;)), chat and pretend to watch LOTR. Sadly, i still yelped at least half a dozen times, even though i've seen the movie. twice. But i did have the good sense to warn him before we started that i tend to scream in scary movies. a lot.

Well, he didn't seem to appalled at my lack of control; in fact he appeared slightly amused by it. Should this embarass me? Oh well, too bad. haha. We chatted a couple of times since then and everything seems normal and good.

However, now begins the awkward waiting stage... i want to hang out with him again, but i can't ask him first. (Don't spew about times changing and girls should just phone guys. I just won't.) And then, what if... what if... what if... There are so many what ifs. And i do tend to over-react and become enamoured by every cute boy who is nice to me. Ah, who cares! We're having fun. He makes me laugh my head off, so that's what counts, right guys?

As soon as i can get a picture of him (without seeming really creepy) i will show you. :) I'm sure Anika will be able to help me when she meets him. SOON!!

A week without blogging...

...makes one a stinker-binker. Luckily for me, i've just squeezed in under the wire.

I was busy preparing for an exciting fundraising concert that was held last Sunday in support of the program i coordinate. It was called "Songs my Grandmother Loved" b/c i work with seniors. Many people donated their time, musical talent, and baking. There was as good turn out and a generous collection taken.

My fantastic mom and sister drove down from Kelowna to come. My amazing sister enthralled the audience with her beautiful flute solos. My Grandpa and roommate Hannah also came. I only stumbled once during my speech and didn't turn bright red until i was seated again. Feuf.

Anika, Jacob, Hannah, Lisa (the flautist), and i went to the beach on Friday for fish and chips. It was so delicious and we were all stuffed. The tide was quite a ways out, so Lisa took Jacob down to dig for clams. I gingerly followed, but didn't want to get dirty or wet, so i let Lisa piggy-back me across the pools. :)

After disposing of footwear and jackets, Lisa and Jacob managed to bury themselves up to their knees in sand and water. (It's APRIL people, not summer!) After unsuccessfully trying to trick Hannah and I into joining the 'fun' i motivated the sandy kids to 'un-stuck' themselves by bribing them with promises of gelato.

Jacob once again managed to make everyone laugh out loud by dancing around in the middle of a pool, threatening Hannah and I with, "WE won't carry you across, you're going to be stuck out there!" Lisa raised her eyebrows, "We? Alright, everyone hop on Jacob's back! He's the new ferry." It's all about team work, right guys?

I watched The Fellowship of the Ring last night with a cute boy.

Post It

Ani, both her boys, my sister, her bf and i (yes, i realize that i was the only one without a man) went out for dinner on Monday night. After discussing the merits (or lackthereof) of homeschooling, we decided to come up with some clever slogans to print on t-shirts. The winner was: ~Proud parent of a homeschooled honour roll student.~ (To be worn with helmut). Does anyone else have schools near you that feel the need to hand out those bumper stickers?!

The next day i was trying to convince Anika to go to the gym with me. For some reason, she thought it would be wiser to finish her final exam that was due the next day. Pfff! I tried to cajole her by lamenting that i was going to have to get a bumper sticker that reads "Obese for Life!" It had the opposite affect i was looking for; she burst out laughing and said she would definitely go to the gym if i displayed such a beautiful sticker. Hmmm.

Let's all take a moment to congratulate my dear ANIKA on finishing her degree!

I am so proud of you, Ani!

ditzy bulldog

I got a free muffler!

A few years ago Milo needed a new muffler, so i shelled out $150. A couple of months later, Milo retired and was replaced by Sylvia, who also needed a new muffler. A year later, she was making all sorts of rattle 'n' hums, but apparently it was the actual muffler this time, as opposed to some connecting pipe they had replaced last time. By this time i had now generously dontated over $500 to the drunk-by-nine-a.m.-scary-looking repair men. So you can imagine my frustration when it started to sound bad shortly after.

At my insistence, they found (and repaired?) a small hole. Duh! As if telling me it looks fine will make it stop sounding horrible. The past few weeks it's been rattling again, but i thought i'd try the "ignore and it will go away" method. Since Monday was a holiday, i decided to spare Sylvia and myself further embarassment and took it in.

Thankfully the perma-drunks weren't there and had cleverly left two red neck boys to work by themselves. After batting my eyelashes, speaking in an incredibly annoyingly ditzy high pitched voice (Ani, don't tell your bf, i won't be allowed back to Roosters!), and looking in vain for my invoice/warranty... those nice young men debated amongst themselves and decided to give me a new muffler for free, even though i didn't have the papers. According to them it was because i looked honest. So that's what we're calling it these days. Haha

My sister thought it was funny that i had managed to pull it off because i'm usually quite assertive and business-like when dealing with things like that. But, hey, you do what you gotta do, right guys? It's called being 'resourceful'!

the new aesop

so many of aesop's fables are just dumb and annoying, but there is something to be said for learning from situations. and to help out my faithful readers, i will share with you an important lesson i have learned. about love. because i am a relationship guru.

bwahahahahahaha...

okay, but for real, one of the hard things about breaking up is figuring out how to be nice, but not like someone anymore. normally, i go through a one year 'i hate you' phase before i can be civil to an ex. once, as an experiment (it's always appropriate to experiment on ex's), i tried to be nice, thinking that it was juvenile not to be. i was wrong.

bringing this back to the present... i still care about my ex-pseudo-bf and don't want to be ugly to him, so to help me out i remind myself of why we aren't together. therefore, today's lesson involves who not to fall in love with. not wanting to overwhelm us, i will limit it to three points. (feel free to add your own).

next time i choose to love someone and have a pseudo-bf-- or a *gasp* real boyfriend-- he will:
a) have the same beliefs as me
b) like spending time with my friends
c) live in a good community (i.e., not surrey!)

isaygooddaytoyou.

stalker friendly

As most of you know, from my list of links in the sidebar, i am a confessed stalker. After a fun and exciting Friday night at Roosters, Joey* asked me to come outside so that he could get my number (neither of us had our phones with us). However, i was too tired to venture out into the rain, so chose to stay in sight of Anika's bf who keeps an eye on us while we play. While this seemed like a good idea at the time, i was annoyed the next day.

To solve this problem, i have driven through the neighbourhood he lives in (i have no idea which house is his), and coerced my sister into going for a "walk" with me around the area. Since he didn't jump out and reveal himself, i've had to think outside the box.

Unfortunately Jacob isn't selling anything for his school, so i am trying to track down a girl guide who i can 'help' by going door to door with her to sell cookies. Sadly, i know no girl guides. Luckily, Cass heard Petey* or Mickey* say where they sometimes hang out on this side of the river. Ergo, we are off for another adventure this week!

I will bring a camera this time and let you know how it goes.

*These may or may not be their real names. I randomly assigned these boys names so that us girls could talk about them.

SFAW!

That, of course, is short for Super-Fantastic-Amazing-Weekend.

Please forgive me for not posting forever. (I know, some of you may have thought i was going the way of Christine and Fribbiter, but fear not ;)). In my defense, i have had quite a traumatic week. My quasi-bf felt the need to break up with me. Due to my sensitive readership, i will not elaborate. Needless to say, my birthday week* was not turning out to be what i hoped it would be. [I must say thank you to Rita and Janice for playing with me after work on Wednesday; it allowed me to survive the week so i could enjoy the weekend!]

***soulmate to the rescue!!!!***

I would like to take a moment to lament with all of you who don't have a bff like mine. Seriously people, Anika represents! (I heart you Ani!)

Friday night Anika and Cass took me to Roosters and we had the funnest night. Ever.
We laughed, drank, laughed, sang, laughed, danced, laughed, flirted, laughed and laughed.

More details soon...

*Yes, birthday WEEK... it's only once a year, you have to live life to the fullest!

France and cats

My best high school friend, Maria, is going to school in France right now. She phoned me this morning to see how my birthday weekend went. That in itself made my day! However, she also decided to give me the gift of laughter b/c i just cannot contain myself when i watch this. In case you don't have sound, it's one of those adopt-a-pet spots. The tag line is "[Pinky] is a very loving cat." And i'm sure he is, as far as cats go. Muahaha

Good Times

Thank you, mes petits chou-chous, for the beautiful birthday greetings. I did, indeed, have a fabulous weekend. My amazing mother is the queen of special birthday celebrations.

Saturday morning i slept in, in my own very comfy, albeit somewhat short, bed that eagerly awaits me everytime i go home for the weekend. Then we went off to Safeway, which generously donates food each week for the guys at Teen Challenge who are just great; after sorting and delivering the food-- and listening to the guys sing happy birthday to me-- mom and i went to my favourite restaurant for lunch. Yum, yum.

My birthday afternoon consisted of going to the lake, shopping, and playing with my nephew. On Sunday my mom planned a birthday party for me. All in all, a great start to my birthday week! ;)
