Some long awaited Wedding Pics

We should be getting our photographer's wedding pics back soon, but i will post a few of these for now... :)

***I would just like to take a moment to say how much i cannot stand blogger at this moment. I had nice little comments for all my pictures, but blogger buggered them all up. So you get to read the comments all at the beginning. It can be like a little game... find which picture matches which comment... Too much? Ok. Well, good luck.***

I was fashionably late for my own wedding. And i couldn't look at JM while i walked down the aisle with my Daddy because i almost started crying... happy tears, don't worry.
I am such an awesome bride-- after receiving a ring worth thousands of dollars from my man, i found him a really cool ring. On ebay. For 1.25. 'Nuf said.
How cute are my flower girls?! (Who also happen to be my nieces). SOOO CUTE!
Wedding Party: My two sisters and my best friend. JM's best friend, his brother, and his cousin.
Picture taking was so fun!
The flowers alone were enough to make my day!
Kissy, kissy, we're so happy, falalalala
Another masterpiece by my brilliant Momma

Seating Arrangements

We are having an outdoor reception. I am not paying $1000+ to rent tents. Ergo, the weather must cooperate! LOL. (We do have a church-gym back up plan, but i'd rather not go there!)

Since space is limited (I want the tables in the backyard, not the field), i am doing a seating plan. This sucks. Not only because people might want to sit somewhere else, but because i have some very high-maintenance friends who "want to sit with so-and-so and definitely don't want to sit with so-and-so... blah, blah, blah." (See Shari, more crazy people saying 'blah, blah, blah' too much! haha).

LIKE IT'S NOT HARD ENOUGH FIGURING THIS OUT, PEOPLE!!

Sheesh!

In other news, my photographer phoned me yesterday to confirm the time of the ceremony.
Me: Two o'clock.
Him: Oh... Hmmm... Shoot.
Me: [Blank stare. Panic.] Uhhh, what?
Him: Well, i don't get off work from my other job until 2
Me: [Thinking, "hm, sucks to be you. You're going to have to get fired to be at my wedding on time!"] Um, can you get off early?
Him: Ya, i'll try to. Maybe my wife can take pictures until i get there.
Me: [Thinking, "We're not paying 1500 bucks for your wife to take pictures!"] Well, maybe i'll try to find someone else.
This is ridiculous, considering the fact that 07/07/07 is the most popular wedding date in history and most excellent photographers will be booked. But anyhoo...

After calming myself down, i spoke with my photographer again later and explained to him that i couldn't find anyone else, and i'm sure he'll be able to work something out. (Nicely, of course). He agreed and told me not to worry about it.

Let this be a lesson to us all: Think before you speak! LOL

My Dilema

Or, "Why i Cried Myself to Sleep Last Night"

I had a nice chat with my biological dad. It went something like this:

Me: So, Dad, would you be offended, relieved, or indifferent if i let Dennis (my step-dad) walk me down the aisle?
Dad: That's fine.
Me: Alright... Well, you're my dad, obviously... But he's my dad too.
Dad: Ya, that's fine.

Hmmm, what an enlightening conversation. Now, of course, if he was upset, he would never tell me, because he wouldn't want to make me feel bad.

I'm not sure whether i'm upset because he's pretending like he doesn't care (for the aforementioned reason, or otherwise), of if i just feel really guilty for choosing my step-dad over him. Both are true, so it's probably a combination.

The thing is, i would love for my biological father to walk me down the aisle. But he's not my 'real' dad-- Dennis gets that title. He's the one that has been to every soccer game, every concert, every birthday, taken me on vacation every year... celebrated life's ups and downs and loved my mom through it all.

I've had many helpful suggestions, including having both of them walk with me (AWKWARD!) or walking by myself (do-able, but i think Dad has earned the right to be there with me). But i'm just stuck and feel crappy no matter what i choose. I hate that i have to deal with this when i didn't do anything wrong!
[My biological dad left when my mom was pregnant with me; she had a newborn, a one year old and a three year old to raise by herself until Dennis came along 10 years later. Have i mentioned lately how amazing my mother is?!?! :)]

So, i just don't know what to do to make myself feel peace about the sitch. I want my Dad (Dennis) to walk me down the aisle. But i also wish things were different, that my other dad was different. And i wish that i didn't feel like i was betraying either one of them.

-Sigh-

Oh, on a happier note, i'm getting married in 18 days!! :)

23 Sleeps!

Ok, so i realize that i am completely unoriginal for simply posting about THE COUNTDOWN. But that truly is all i think about these days.

This weekend i am staying home from Kelowna because the in-laws are having a work bee at their place to get the yard ready for our reception. Very kind. However... There is a 100% chance of rain this weekend. Not sure how effective painting the barn and fences is going to be.

In other news, i am attempting to coerce my uncle and aunt (and their two little guys) to come to our wedding. They live in India. I am succeeding!!!! It's not for sure yet.

I think this shows that none of my IIFs has a valid reason for not coming! ;) Love ya!

My days are numbered

Just in case anyone is counting, i only have 31 day left of matching my sisters' last name. I'm not sure how i feel about this. Well, mostly excited, because let's face it, i'm getting married!! And have been waiting to do so for the last eight years. (Minus the several cumulative months of cold feet).

There is still soooooo much to do in the next FOUR WEEKS (ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!), so i'm sure i won't have time to actually ponder these random thoughts much longer. But i do like being connected to my sisters in this way. No fair that brothers get to always have the same name. But my family has had split names for the last 16 years, so it's just as well, i suppose. I'm going to start a new family next month. And make sure that we all have the same last name for always-- or at least until our future little bambinas get married. But let's not get toooo carried away! ;)

i have a dress!!

Sadly, i cannot post a picture of my dress here, because-- let's face it-- my betrothed will find it. And that would suck because then how would i get him to cry on our wedding day. Muahaha.

BUUUUUUT! I DO have a dress! And i am so stinkin' excited! And it's white and pouffy and beautiful and me-oh-my i am one excited bride-to-be!

Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

venting helps

Background info, for you just hearing about the sitch for the first time: My dear sister, Lisa, is in the UK for a month, so while she is away, her things are at my house. My landlord saw us moving them in and, understandably, wanted to know what was going on and who was moving in. I explained to him the sitch and told him that i was keeping Lisa's things until she could come back and sort through them, including her motorcycle. He joked around about her being lucky to go away and offered to let her keep the motorcycle in his mom's barn, down the road. I mentioned this to his mom ("the mad hatter") later and she didn't seem to know anything about that, so we just decided to leave the motorcycle parked in my spot. ALSO, i've been trying to get cable in so i can have internet and phone (our VOIP line). I thought this would be pretty straight forward, but apparently my landlord doesn't believe in having lines run around his house, even if he cannot see them. I have taken time off work, JM has taken time off work TWICE to meet the cable guy, but my landlord keeps throwing kinks in.

To my Landlord (previously known as Happy Harold),

Let's recap this week:
Monday: nasty note telling me what i can and cannot keep in my own space, which i faithfully pay rent to use each month.
Tuesday: telling MY cable guy to get off the property because he had an "attitude" (i.e., he allegedly said one sarcastic comment in front of you).
Wednesday: posting a "please remove shoes" sign on the window of the entrance to MY suite.

Today is Thursday. And while i had the good sense (and grace!) to not confront you about these things yesterday, while i was in a rage, the time has now come.

I understand that my home is part of your property and therefore you have certain rights. HOWEVER, you must accept that choosing to rent out your basement suite means that you give up some of your rights.

For example, what i keep (boxes or any other possessions) in my space is up to me. Unless there is something that could damage your property (boxes will not) or that is illegal, you have no say in what's inside the space i rent. I understand that you stored an old dresser for a friend and it was infested so you had to have your place fumigated. I am more than happy to prove to you that none of the items i possess are infested. As a side note, how do you know what i am storing where? I don't think it is appropriate (or legal!) for you to be looking in my suite without my permission and/or me being there.

Also, the cable guy on your property was providing a service to ME, not you. I would never ask one of your guests or customers to leave... You aren't the king of the bloody castle! You are right that you shouldn't have to take crap from the cable guy (although JM was right there and said you completely overreacted for no reason), but you should act like an adult and overlook some things instead of being so unreasonable. Sending the cable guy away didn't 'punish' him for his 'bad attitude'; he still gets paid the same. And it doesn't affect you, except by puffing up your ego through a lame power trip. But it does affect me; i am the one without cable. Still. This is ridiculous. I have to send out wedding invitations (which were supposed to go out a week ago!) and i need the phone working before i do that. Denying me basic services is NOT within your rights as landlord.

And last, but certainly not least, the shoe advisory. After 10 months of living in the same building quite harmoniously, i might have been able to overlook the shoe sign, but not this week. First of all, you knew there was a shoe sign before i moved in and that i promptly removed it the same day. So it's obvious that i don't want such a sign posted in my home. I think it is very rude and impersonal to have a sign posted that reads, "please remove shoes." As a side note, i don't wear my shoes in the house. I always take them off at the door. My guests do not wear their shoes in my house. If it were an issue, i would simply ask them verbally to leave their shoes at the door. However, if i did want to wear my shoes in the house, that is my right to do that (one of the rights you gave up when you rented out the suite). I think it is very controlling of you to try to tell me what i can wear in my own home. You have a damage deposit from me, which protects your property if i wreck anything (i.e., the carpet by wearing shoes). I also find it quite odd that you were down near my suite entrance to begin with. You have no reason to be down there. It is your right, as landlord, to do inspections if you choose. However, i have to be give written notice at least 48 hours in advance. Since i have not received anything, i can only assume you were not supposed to be there. Also, if it is so important to you that i don't wear shoes in my own home, you should simply speak with me about it-- NOT post signs without my permission.

Let's recall our Tuesday conversation (after the cable guy incident and i had to calm my bf down so he wouldn't deck you-- you can thank me later).

me: Harold, why are you chasing away my cable guy? (half-hearted joking, trying to keep things light)
H: blah, blah, blah (lame excuses, pride issues, whatever)
me: Is there something else wrong, because you should just tell me if there is.
H: no, everything is fine, i just don't like the cable... blah, blah, blah
me: Are you trying to get me to move out?
H: no! you're my best tennant. i like you. and jm.
me: Well, it feels like you don't want me to live here anymore.
H: more denials, blah, blah, blah.

As you can see, verbally you left me with the impression that you are not trying to push me out. However, you are sending mixed messages. After 10 months of happiness, you start pulling all this crap. Not cool. If you want me to stay, stop being controlling and unreasonable.

Have a nice day!

tonsillitis, part I

I am finally starting to get better. But this does not mean i can convince the doctors to leave my tonsils in. I have appointments this week to decide when the dismemberment will happen.

To everyone i had contact with in the last week: sorry. I didn't know that i was contagious. I can give you the number for a good surgeon if you want! :S

In other news, can anyone say facebook.
